Fertile GroundWorks Taste for Giving

Fertile GroundWorks' mission is to teach sustainable gardening to individuals and communities, allowing them to grow nutritious food, and give our fresh produce to those who need it. Teach,Grow, Give is our mantra.

We are hosting our third annual 'Taste for Giving' fundraiser on Wednesday July 22nd, 2015 at the spacious bucolic Rios Lovell Winery (Livermore, CA 94550). We would like to invite you to come join us in enjoying complimentary wines, delicious food and participating in silent and live auction action, all while celebrating and supporting Fertile GroundWorks. Since its inception in 2010, Fertile GroundWorks' volunteers have grown and harvested more than 45,000 pounds of produce in our Garden of Grace. We have expanded from 5 beds to 70 garden beds. All of our produce has been given to Open Heart Kitchen, our community's food pantries and our elder neighbors.

In addition to providing healthy organic food to our community members, Fertile GroundWorks uses the Garden of Grace as our primary teaching garden. In 2014, 476 volunteers have learned about sustainable gardening while donating more then 5,800 man hours and growing over seven (7) tons of food to share.

Fertile GroundWorks also champions and facilitates the creation of new community/institutional gardens. Fertile GroundWorks volunteers have helped establish gardens at three high schools for their Agricultural Science and Culinary Arts programs, four elementary schools for their science programs and at two churches to help them provide food for their neighbors.
