Hogeye Folk Arts Presents "An Evening with Ed Holstein"
HOGEYE FOLK ARTS, LTD. PRESENTS "AN EVENING WITH ED HOLSTEIN"

Chicago native Ed Holstein might need a ride to his March 5 gig.  He doesn't drive.  Never did.  (Ask him about the incident at the DMV involving a slide whistle and a bag of Cheesey Puffs that may have cost him any chance of ever qualifying for an Illinois driver's license.) But beaming with an outlook on life that only walking can give you, and probably feeling healthier than most of us, Ed returns to Hogeye for an evening of good-natured, high-spirited music and mayhem.

Ed last appeared on the Hogeye stage back in April, 2007...and we're delighted to welcome him back.  In addition to being a noteworthy guitar and banjo player, Ed is a polished comedian with masterful timing, as well as an engaging storyteller.  He recalls a bucketful of nostalgia from the early days of the "Folk Scare" in Chicago...in such vivid detail and with such charm that even those of you younger than the Olsen Twins will swear you were there.  (It was a good time;  it gave us Ed and his late brother Fred.)

Let us not forget that Ed is a songwriter of some renown.  His songs have been performed by the likes of Bette Midler, Bonnie Koloc, Steve Goodman, Chad Mitchell, Martin Simpson, and Tom Rush.  We can't mention some of  the others;  they charge for the use of their names.

Journey with Ed back inside the storied walls of the Fret Shop in the Hyde Park neighborhood on the south side of Chicago.  Don't let him leave without telling you about Mickey Gottlieb.  Get a taste of what folk music and folk performers were meant to be.

The Lake Street Church Josephine Grey Parlor is the perfect setting to enjoy Ed's richness and warmth.  March 5.  Come early and stay late.
