Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents "Mozart, Magic and Mystery"
The exquisite writing for instruments and voice, combined with an intriguing historical frame, make Mozart's Requiem one of the most satisfying and engaging works in all repertoire. For our performance, the BSO welcomes to the stage Bemidji State University's (BSU's) Bemidji Choir (Dr. Brad Logan, Director), and the Bemidji Chorale (Patricia Mason, Conductor) as well as four soloists: Dr. Jennifer Olson, soprano; Leandra Craigmile, mezzo-soprano; Luke Barnard, tenor; and Mike Lundin, baritone. Dr. Beverly Everett conducts.
Mozart's Requiem has always been shrouded in an aura of mystery, owing to the fact that Mozart was working on when he died in 1791. To this day, there exists controversy and myth concerning Mozart's state of mind as he wrote it, the circumstances of Mozart's death, and the unfinished score's completion. What we do know for certain is that Mozart's Requiem is loved the world over for its power, its intrinsic grandeur, and the extraordinary depth of human emotion it explores. Please join us for this powerful close to our 2014-2015 season! This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Region 2 Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
