MOZART MEETS HAYDN
NEW TRINITY BAROQUE, "Atlanta's most established early music group" and "Atlanta's most adventurous period-instrument ensemble" (Atlanta Journal-Constitution) goes CLASSICAL!  They will present the final concert of its 2010/11 season on SATURDAY, May 21 at 8:00 p.m.  The concert, entitled "MOZART MEETS HAYDN" will feature divertimentos, sonatas and string quartets by two composers that defined the Classical era - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Joseph Haydn.  The program will include Haydn's String Quartet "The Bird" from his famous Op. 33 (Six "Russian" Quartets), which inspired Mozart to write his famous "Haydn" Quartets - and among them the String Quartet "Dissonance," which will also be featured at this concert. Other selections include Mozart's Church Sonatas and Divertimento in D, as well as Haydn's early Trios (Divertimentos) from Hob. V.

This concert is a rare opportunity to hear some of their's most exciting but also the most difficult string quartets, and is definitely an event that will leave you enchanted and musically satisfied. At the same time, New Trinity Baroque will announce its upcoming 2011/12 season, which promises to be better than ever before, with 5 concerts raging from early Baroque to Classical, with amazing guest musicians and choirs.

The concert will be presented at the wonderful acoustics of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, 1790 LaVista Rd, Atlanta, GA 30329. A free pre-concert talk will be given at 7 p.m. The concert is presented just a week before New Trinity Baroque members embarks for the fourth time in a row to the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina, where this year they will present 7 (yes, seven!) concerts.
