Saturday Family Concerts: Eckaman & Super Mokako
Eckaman got an early start as a singer: At 5, he was performing in his Zaire home and in a church choir. Now, after stints with Kiam and Yoka Enzenze, a worldwide tour with Tabu Ley Rochereau, and performances with Seattle bands such as The Fiasco and Jambalaya, the vocalist/composer fronts the Afro-funk/Soukous-fusion band Super Mokako, featuring musicians from West Africa and the Caribbean performing an upbeat yet mellow mix of hip-shaking Congolese dance music. Series supported by the Fales Foundation Trust, The Glaser Foundation, and U.S. Bancorp Foundation. Series media sponsorship provided by ParentMap and KEXP.
