World Holiday Music and More
It's not just about Christmas! Guitarist/bouzoukist/composer Greg Herriges and friends play music for traditional holidays from around the world: Diwali, Chinese New Year, the Japanese Cherry Blossom festival, Hanukah, and more; from "Sakura" to "Carol of the Bells." Also featuring Tony Varghese (bass/dilruba) and Gary Waryan (tabla).
Greg Herriges plays original and traditional "whirled music" on guitar, Greek bouzouki (lute) and voice, with a unique approach honed by his studies of Asian and other international styles. Recipient of a Bush Artist Fellowship for Music Composition, his music and writing have found international recognition. He is also the author of many instructional music publications and a music director/accompanist for theatre and film. Ravi Prasad specializes in the tabla and other traditional Indian percussion instruments. Tony Varghese combines jazz and Hindustani influences on the upright bass and dilruba (an Indian bowed instrument).
