Workshop in Brazilian Styles of Music with Almir Cortes and João Paulo Amaral
This class is open to musicians interested in learning more about Brazilian styles of music. The teachers are from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and active performer and educators. They are here on tour with their duo Cordal. Almir Cortes was the featured guest artist at the Berkeley Festival of Choro 2013.
Brazilian Music Styles Rhythm and Improvisation
This class aims to show how to play some of the main Brazilian styles - an exposition of the main characteristics of the styles, such as the typical accompaniment and specific articulations, phrasing, rhythm patternsmodes and scales.
The class will include playing by students, so be sure to bring your instruments. The teachers are string players, but the class is open to anyone wishing to learn more about Brazilian style and performance practice.
