THE RUMINATORS
A disparate group of musicians, The Ruminators diverse personalities and musical histories create a wholly new blend. A somewhat sphinxian stage presence, guitarist/singer/songwriter, Greg Scherer restrained intensity belies the heartfelt passion and cathartic nature of his songs. His musical influences lean toward the folk music of the United States and British Isles mixed with a key sixties era ingredient of experimentation and cross-pollenization separating The Ruminators from folk purists. have no interest in re-creating, really, reinterpretation and personalizing making a particular style your own is where it at. Ruminator lead singer, Jennifer Goudeau, has a voice whose range of expression extends from a sultry soulfulness to the delicate caress of a ballad. Coming from a jazz background, Jennifer sings with the phrasing and warm seductive sonance reminiscent of the leading female singers of the genre. Other members are accordianist/keyboardist, Ron Stinnett; Terry Ann Gillette: violin/flute/mandolin; Steve Black, guitar; Jan Martinelli, bass and Jonathan Brown, drums. Recordings: Summer 2008 "LIVE! at the Krush The Ruminators' song "Ghost Town" is part of a live collection which includes tracks by David Grisman, Alejandro Escovedo and James McMurtry. The Ruminators most recent full-length release (2/2006) on Jackalope Records is their third CD and entitled Loomings. Their previous CD Wild West(1998) has been described by San Francisco Examiner writer, Paul Wilner, as Sam Shepard meets the folk revival and in BAM magazine as beautiful and compared to the music of Richard and Linda Thompson. The Ruminators origin is Sonoma County a semi-rural area north of San Francisco known for its redwoods, vineyards, cow-flecked hills and rugged coastline. Founded in 1989, they have established a devoted and appreciative following in their home base as well as made converts among the unsuspecting in their travels. www.myspace.com/ruminators
TERESA TUDURY
Teresa started writing songs at age 12 and was performing in San Francisco nightclubs by the time she was 15. She has played on and off in the Bay Area for years, and for almost two decades was based in Los Angeles where in addition to musical gigs, she wrote comedy and worked as a character actress on stage and screen. With a deep, sultry voice that magnetizes audiences, and a scathing comedic wit to match, Teresa is a consummate performer who pours out her original songs with power, verve, passion, and disarming humor. Teresa's voice has been described as a cross between Bette Midler and Bonnie Raitt (LA Weekly). Her vocal stylings are perfectly complemented by her bluesy guitar playing. Throughout her career, Teresa has recorded or performed with such greats as Leonard Cohen, Rickie Lee Jones, Lyle Lovett, Taj Mahal, Leo Kottke, Charlie Musselwhite and Bonnie Bramlett. Now residing in Sonoma County, Teresa continues to perform and write new material. She has just released Such Fine Things, her latest CD. Her earlier recordings (1992 Teresa Tudury, and the 2002 River Of Life). were recently rereleased. With these recordings and a steady stream of concert appearances, Teresa is a gifted artist in her prime. www.teresatudury.net
