West Meets East - Rashomon at Sebastopol Center for the Arts
Sonoma County Matsuri! Japanese Arts Festival presents Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece Rashomon. Co-sponsored by the Sebastopol Center for the Arts.
Join us for an evening of film followed by discussion.
Acclaimed director Akira Kurosawa's first international hit, Rashomon (1950), set in 12th century Japan, showcases the investigation of a heinous crime through the testimony of four witnesses, a nobleman, his wife, a thief, and a woodcutter. Their accounts seemingly cannot be reconciled. Who is telling the truth? Beautifully filmed and acted (including Toshiro Mifune) Kurosawa's film is a masterful meditation on the very nature of reality itself.
Light refreshments included in the ticket price. Proceeds support Sonoma County Matsuri! Japanese Arts Festival.
