Eavesdropping: Trombone - Sean Reed
Sean Scot Reed explores acoustic and electronic avenues in collaboration with composers Guy Barash, Aaron Travers, Richard Lavenda and Sean Anthony Reed. These collaborations and resultant musical offerings are each distinct in character with Sean Scot Reed's influences as the common denominator.
A unifying conceptualization for this collection began with an attempt to encourage the creation of new repertoire for the trombone by paying respect to more traditional modern composers like Berio and Zivkovic. No limits were suggested to the composers, but conversely, there was no agenda regarding the 'accessibility' of the pieces for multiple audiences. The result is an eclectic collection ranging from traditional new music to newer pieces conceived and born out of those traditions with electronic manipulation and improvisation on the other end of the extreme.
