The Socalled Movie is a feature documentary film about Montreal-based musical wizard Josh Dolgin
âÂ" aka Socalled. Socalled is an artist with an extraordinary range and appetite to apply his creative and
iconoclastic talents to everything from Jewish Klezmer music to Funk, Soul and Hip-Hop. He is a
magician, singer, arranger, rapper, filmmaker, composer, and cartoonist. Socalled is shot partly on
locations ranging from a Montreal neighborhood of Hasidic Jews, to a musical tour through New York
and France and an emotionally moving trip back to his ancestral home of Ukraine. The film also
introduces funk trombone legend Fred Wesley. The âÂÂSocalledâ Movie is a portrait of a unique artist that
is not afraid to combine cultural styles and great music.
