OVEJA NEGRA - 2010 Redwood City International Latino Film Festival
Black Sheep, acclaimed at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, is a story full of emotions, laughs, tears and unforgettable characters. Jose and Kumbia work as shepherds at Leandro's ranch. They are sick of his bad treatment and their own helplessness. They thus come up with a plan to change their future: steal a sheep and sell it at the Mexican- American border and thus be enable them to fulfill their dream of a better future. What could possibly go wrong?
Leandro's son, Jeronimo, however is always at their heels, and will do anything to prevent them from getting away. Their plan comes under threat when Jose's first love, Maria, a young girl learning her ways with men comes between Jeronimo and Jose....It is a fun, fresh and explosive story that captures with originality the values of friendship and loyalty.
Awarded "Best Film" at Guadalajara Film Festival, 2009 by FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) and Audience Award at the same festival.
