Mac 'n Cheese Bowl
Like Mac 'n Cheese? Bring the family to Foodnet Meals on Wheels famous Mac 'n Cheese Bowl, March 21, 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, Ithaca High School Cafeteria. Taste mac 'n cheese from 20 area restaurants and caterers as they vie to be named the best.
The "bowl," which benefits elderly people and individuals with disabilities who cannot cook or shop for their own meals, is back for the second year with new twists for mac 'n cheese lovers of all ages.
There are some new elements this year Stefan Senders, co-founder of Wide Awake Bakery, will be on hand to give an educational presentation on the art and science of pasta. In addition, this year's awards will feature a new Kid's Choice Award. Kids, 5-12, may vote for their favorite mac 'n cheese. Awards will be given for the best vegetarian mac 'n cheese and the best meat/fish/poultry mac 'n cheese.
In the KidZ Korner children will be encouraged to create postcards to be delivered to Foodnet clients with their meals. Clients get a real boost from thoughtful extras that show the community cares about them.
Many restaurants and caterers are returning for a second year, but newcomers are also joining the "bowl" to tantalize everyone's taste buds. Coltivare, the TC3 operated farm to fork restaurant, Red's Place, Greenstar Cooperative Market, Agava, and Brookdale of Ithaca are debuting this year.
