THE RIVER ARKANSAS
The River Arkansas is the newest project of Pueblo, Colorado's Mike Clark (The Ghost of Michael Clark, The Haunted Windchimes, The Sugar Sounds). Named after the river Clark lives beside, this is a band made up of some of the front range's finest musicians, including members of Clouds and Mountains, Spirits of the Red City, and Princess Music. Their first release, Golden Light, draws stylistically from all of Clark's past musical endeavors, joining elements of rock and roll, Americana, soul, and gypsy folk.

While this new collection of songs is some of Clark's most intimate writing to date, he delivers with humility, lamenting his own unrequited love without over-sentimentality; we even find ourselves tapping our feet to his candid tales of healing a broken heart. And, as always, meandering through Clark's music is his deep appreciation for modest small-town living. Golden Light is in many ways a testament to the earnestness of the boy in the back seat of the Gran Torino as he chases after his musical dreams.
