Hatrack Gallagher & Friends
Everything that Hatrack Gallagher plays -- the feeling and heart of every performance he gives -- is shaped and informed by the blues. He learned his craft at the knees of Peg Leg Sam Jackson, Sonny Terry, Hammie Nixon, Furry Lewis , Bukka White, Roosevelt Sykes, Robert Pete Williams and others. He knows how it's supposed to be done, and he brings it all with him when he plays. The "it" is blues harmonica -- blues harp to be precise -- and we have not heard anyone better since Paul Butterfield was around to pound out Chicago-style blues. For this show, Hatrack brings along jazz pianist and regular side man Ric Maure, with his fabulous blues chops, Dave Gold on bass, and percussionist/drummer Mickey Carter.
