Damage Control Dance Theater

RAW (resident artist workshop) presents Damage Control Dance Theater
(directed/choreographed by Cera Byer) is a World Fusion Contemporary dance company based in San Francisco. DCDT has been churning out new and original work since 2006, captivating local, national, and international audiences with their unique style and raw personal subject matter. DCDT's work has been described "quirky, athletic, fluid, at once familiar and completely fresh", and "organic evolving studies into the biospheres of human emotion". Trine: An evening of new works by Paco Gomes & Dancers and Damage Control Dance Theater. Astrologically, Trines are a harmonious artistic alignment. Dance-ologically, DCDT & PGD are the same. Trine is the culmination of years of dance and friendship between DCDT & PGD's directors Cera Byer & Paco Gomes, and brings two programs together under one roof for a shared evening of grace, heart, and atheleticism. PGD's program, Love & Trinity, brings the trademark fluidity and strength of Paco's choreography to a vision of Brazil told through legends, myths and rituals; a vision of philosophic modern dance through human experience. DCDT's program, 33 Thoughts on Falling, is a series of meditations on release, letting go, stepping into the unknown, experiencing loss, gravity, and freefall. Grief, loss, release, fear, and bravery are primal, visceral experiences that live in our bodies. These new works, many of them a collaborative effort between the dancers of DCDT, seek to live them out loud.
In the spirit of true collaboration, in addition to creating their own works, the choreographers have taken on the challenge of working with each others companies: Trine features a piece by DCDT's director Cera Byer performed by Paco Gomes & Dancers, and Cera Byer will perform a solo choreographed by Paco Gomes.
