Cecilia Zabala and Yukari Roja
The Monkey is proud to present two of the best singer/song writter/ guitarist form around the world not to mention two of the hottest base on the planet. Japan's Yukari Roja and Argentina's Cecillia Zabala will grace the stage of the Monkey for a night of beautifully guitar playing and sublime singing that will leave your ears and eyes in a state of awe. Each artist will perform a solo set of original compositions for guitar and voice, as well as a duo to close the show. As usual The Monkey complimentary bar will serve whine and libation to enhance the music further.
Cecilia Zabala is guitarist, singer and composer from buenos Aires, Argentina. Throughout her career, she has expressed her musical creativity using her guitar and her voice, creating original compositions that blend sensitivity, emotion, technique and intuition. Her music draws on a rich mixture of influences, from Argentinean folklore, the contemporary language of the twentieth century, jazz, tango, and Brazilian music.

Her soloist records show an original, deep and âfeminineâ song-writer, who has a âvirtuosoâ way to play 7 strings guitar. In a tradition of guitarists and writers that can be tracked from the roots and innovations of Atahualpa Yupanqui to the minimalism of Juana Molina, Zabala takes traditional, classical and pop elements to a personal and newest step in local music.

After her first tour in America as a part of "International Guitar Night" sharing with guitarists as Benjamin Verdery, Pierre Bensusan and Brian Gore in 2009 she will make her first soloist tour releasing her albums "Aguaribay" (2007) and "Pendiente (2008) in New Orleans, New York and Boston, also she will record an album with the duet Davis&Deleault and she will do lectures on argentine music at NY Guitar Society and Yale University
Yukari Roja is a Japanese self-taught musician from Fukuoka, Japan. Her music is written in Japanese and mixed with Japanese folk and world music. She started to play guitar and write her own music at age19 when she quite her eleven years of serious carrier as a basketball player. Within a few years, she was already performing and winning some singer/songwriter competitions.
 Since Yukari moved to NYC in 2002, she has been influenced by world music,especially Brazilian, African,and Indian music. Last year, she released her acoustic live EP "Ai No Uta" and toured U.S as a soloist. Her songs "Wataridori" and "Ai No Uta" were played on the radio and TV show in Japan. Last two years, she also performed at Central Park for "For the Love of Lennon".
 Even if you don't understand her words(Japanese), her emotional voice and guitar will reach out and touch your heart.
