Downton Abbey Afternoon High Tea & Champagne with live classical and romantic music
Fans of America's favorite BBC series Downton Abbey are being invited to an exquisite Afternoon Full Tea service with live classical and romantic music as guest enjoy English teas, delightful quiche, savory tea sandwiches, scones, cakes, tea cookies, fresh fruits and champagne or sherry served in the vintage style of Downton Abbey.
ENTERTAINMENT AND EDUTAINMENT
To complete the afternoon, live classical and romantic music is scheduled. Bob Strain, our resident pianist, plays with extraordinary grace and virtuosity. On occasions when Bob is unavailable guests will be delighted with top local musicians performing on piano, guitar or cello.
During the musical breaks, our Afternoon Tea expert will provide a brief history and etiquette on Afternoon Teas, fashion and answer questions.
SEATING TIMES AND DURATION
Seating Hours begin at 1pm and we can seat our last guests as late as 2:30pm. Guests are welcome to leisurely stay as long as they like but we respectfully request guests to complete their Afternoon Tea by 4:00pm in order that our dinner service preparation may begin.
Fridays: Guest may arrive between 1pm up to 2:30pm
Saturdays: Guest may arrive between 1pm up to 2:30pm
LOCATION AND SETTING
Lex 18's historic late1920's dining room was formerly part of the 1904 - 1922 Eureka Saloon owned and operated by John O'Donnell. Restored in 2014 its design reflects the splendor and elegance of the post-Edwardian era complete with all the finery from this popular historic period. Centered under its gold ceiling, each table is lavishly dressed in lace and embroidered linens. English Royal Dalton, French Limoges, Japanese Noritake china are set with arranged flowers, fine silver cutlery and vintage cut crystal champagne, water and sherry glasses. Elegantly dressed in morning coat and tie, Alan Van de Kamp, our tea connoisseur and butler, is at your service to prepare the perfect tea for your table. While baker and tea expert, Georgia Malki, is on hand to host.
MENU OF DELIGHT
The Afternoon Tea menu is made each morning to ensure freshness and the delight of items coming from the oven. Adjustments and variations are based on seasonal produce to ensure locally sourced products.

TABLE ASSIGNMENTS
Tables are assigned based on the size of party. Parties of two do share tables with parties of the same size allowing for ample space between.
DRESS
We do ask our guests to dress appropriate for most fine restaurants... shoes, shirts, etc. We strongly encourage our guests to take advantage of the beautiful settings and have fun with taking pictures. Whether dressed casual or in period costume or garden dress, relax wear or sharply dressed we encourage you to make this your special occasion.
ABOUT TEA SERVICES
Afternoon tea (because it was usually taken in the late afternoon) is also called "low tea" when served in a sitting room or withdrawing room where low tables were placed near sofas or chairs. There are three basic types of Afternoon, or Low Tea and at Lex 18 you will be enjoying a Full Tea:
Cream Tea - Tea, scones, jam and cream
Light Tea - Tea, scones and sweets
Full Tea - Tea, savories, scones, sweets and dessert
