The Loners at the Mandel JCC's Leonard Krieger Cleveland Jewish Film Fest
Year: 2009 Genre: Drama Country: Israel Language: Hebrew/Russian with subtitles Length: 92 minutes Director: Renen Schorr
Inspired by true events that took place in an Israeli military prison in 1997, The Loners is the story of two Russian-speaking immigrants who serve in the army and desire to assimilate into Israeli society. A mishap during a night on leave results in convictions of treason and futile demands for a retrial. Increasingly desperate as they lose their freedom and dignity in prison, they attempt one last-ditch effort to be heard.
