An odd precept in Jewish law permits a person to sell his place in heaven. But would you strike such a bargain for a month's worth of omelets? Bambi, a brave, heroic, secular Israeli army officer who recently returned from battle, does just that when he enters into a contract with a religious cook.
Years later, when Bambi is on his deathbed, alone and embittered, his ultra-Orthodox estranged son, Nimrod, tries to repurchase his father's place in heaven in this film about father/son relationships, fate, faith, family, salvation, military expediency and the inevitable political fallout.
