RedDog - Old-time music and early bluegrass - Doug Yule, Cary Lung, Tom Collicott
To help alleviate the expense of their pending adoption of a child from Poland, Chaz & Sherry Lipp ask you to join them as they present a night of great live music. Featuring a very special appearance by Seattle TV and radio icon Tony Ventrella
RedDog keeps alive the traditional music of the American southeast, combining fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and acoustic guitar with plaintive vocals.
Rolling Stone magazine's David Fricke calls RedDog's album Hard Times a "fine debut...antique blues and backwoods fables flecked with a purist's grit."
RedDog's fiddler is Doug Yule, formerly of the influential rock band The Velvet Underground. Yule sang lead on a number of Velvets' classics, including "Candy Says" and "New Age". He later worked with The Beatles' producer George Martin as part of the folk-rock group American Flyer. On mandolin is Cary Lung, who recorded and toured during the '70s with the Sweet Mills String Band. Anchoring the trio on guitar and banjo is Tom Collicott, who is also a member of another old-time band, Atlas Stringband.
To get things warmed up, The Chaz Lipp Groove Trip will open the show with a set of jazz tunes. Chaz is sure to wrench some wild solos from his saxophone, joined by guest musicians assembled specifically for this event.
