Hysterical Blindness
HYSTERICAL BLINDNESS is a love letter to classic independent American filmmaking. Though the film was produced as a television movie for HBO, director Mira Nair (MONSOON WEDDING, THE NAMESAKE) had John Cassavettes in mind when she shot this affecting film about Jersey girls stuck in their one-bar town. It takes a lot of hairspray to navigate a gene pool this small! So whip out those forgotten shoulder pads and tease out your big hair we're turning on the star power for the final film of our season: Uma Thurman and Juliette Lewis will break your hearts with their hapless desperation. Gena Rowlands and Ben Gazzarra will warm your hearts with their earnest tenderness.
