Terrapin Flyer at The Park Theatre
Terrapin Flyer began in 1999 in Chicago as the house band at a Grateful Dead Jam Night. Through the many associations developed there and many that have continued since, the band has grown into one of the premier Grateful Dead inspired touring acts in the nation. The band draws from a variety of skilled guest musicians including Grateful Dead keyboardists Tom Constanten and Bob Bralove, Jerry Garcia Band's Melvin Seals and Ratdog guitarist Mark Karan. Other band members include progressive bluegrass band Cornmeal's "Wavy" Dave Burlingame and former Cornmeal members Kris Nowak and JP Nowak. Additionally, Doug Hagman has remained the primary singer/rhythm guitarist/manager of the band since it's inception. Previously the band has toured under the names Vince Welnick & Friends, Melvin Seals & JGB & Tom Constanten & Friends.
