Body Artist
Known for pushing "the artistic envelope to the point of ripping" (El Pasatiempo, 2003), and called "dangerous" and "assaultive" (The New York Times, 2007) the Readymade Dance Theater Company is New Mexico's premier contemporary dance company.
Their new work, Body Artist, is a full evening performance of physical dance theater exploring relationship through the prism of time, memory and dreams. "Memories of a lost love, connections between life and death all occur as in a dream world, suspended in space and compressed in time" (AlbuquerqueJournal, 2009). Described as "a pure state of dance that is violent, sensual, athletic and exhausting" (Albquerque Arts, 2009). Body Artist is a narrative physical poem featuring company dancers Jen Hipscher and Ephraim Colbert; with lighting design by Gordon Kennedy and choreography and sound design by Zsolt Palcza.
