Santa Cruz Dance Presents: Zari Le'on Dance Theater
âTheir skin was very black. Not the glitterBlack of negroes, but mat black, as if the sun sucked away all possibility of reflectionâ (Chatwin, 5) ZLDTâs newest work âglitterBlackâ is a dance theater adaptation of Bruce Chatwinâs description of the American Negro in his famous ethnography titled âSonglines.. The four-person dialogue of movement examines the depth of Black music and itâs positive legacy outside of the exploitative lens of mainstream media.
