Abandoned Queen, Mad King
Evening #9 at the 2015 Staunton Music Festival offers a riveting evening of English opera, presenting a semi-staged version of Henry Purcell's masterful Dido and Aeneas, followed after intermission by the Eight Songs for a Mad King by Peter Maxwell Davies, based on the life of England's George III. Acclaimed chamber musicians perform. Ticket holders are invited to the free pre-concert talk at 6:30pm.
