Pair Excellence is a series of dining experiences produced by 90.1FM KKFI that seeks to unite community. Dining on the Danube is the first episode to explore the international flavors that Kansas City has to offer the discerning palette.
The five courses, pairing Bavarian Lagers from KC Bier Co. with the Austrian Cuisine of Grunauer, is Kansas City's way of experiencing the tastes and libations of the Danube. This 90.1 event is designed to educate and stimulate the senses as though you just skied into a centuries old lodge on the border of Germany and Austria looking across the banks of the river that ties them together. The communal seating of the Vienna Zimmer is another way to experience dining in a way that builds community and inspires people to discuss and appreciate each other as well as the food and drink.
Chefs Nicholas Bandelier and Matthias Seyfrid with Head Brewer, Steve Holle will be on hand to illuminate the reasons for the pairings before each of the four courses. The Grunauer's private dining room, Vienna Zimmer, is a beautiful room full of history, vitality, and natural ambiance.
90.1 will also provide the beautiful strains of Katie Benyo's violin. She will be performing during the seating and dining with heavy focus on German and Austrian composers. Katie is an accomplished violinist, teacher, and graduate of Missouri Western. Music is obviously one of the things that ties all communities together so it is of the utmost importance that music be involved in our events.
