AFRICAN EXPRESSIONS DANCE WORKSHOP
Hedwig Dances, the resident dance company at the Chicago Cultural Center, presents the African Expressions Dance Workshop taught by instructor Amaniyea Payne, Artistic Director of Muntu Dance Theatre. The workshop takes place on Wednesdays, April 21 to May 26, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (six weeks) in the 1st Floor Dance Studio at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington (at Michigan Avenue) in Chicago. It provides an experience in natural rhythmic movements and incorporates traditional African dance, Caribbean dance and African American culture into the movement. The class awakens the senses through muscle toning, breathing exercises and movement, all to the accompaniment of live African drumming. All levels are welcome.
