Kathy Kosins in Concert at Jazzway 6004
Born in Detroit, Kathy Kosins works Motown and pop influences into her jazz singing. She began backing Was (Not Was), Michael Henderson, J.C. Heard's Orchestra and the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. During the '80s, she wrote R&B-based songs with producers Rick Chudikoff, Jeff Pesetto, Peter Benetta and Nick. She later turned to jazz singing and has produced 3 critically acclaimed CDâs (with a new one Mid Century Modern about to be released) containing mostly originals and some not often heard jazz standards. The Chicago Tribune called jazz artist Kathy Kosins, "One of the most alluring voices in Jazz," the International Association of Jazz Educators ranked her in the top six performers of 2005, and Chris DiGirolamo of "Inside Connection," wrote of her, "If Jazz had four seasons, Kathy Kosins would be spring."
Kathy performs songs from her "Ladies of Cool" show along with requested songs from the audience. Vince Evans accompanies her on piano with Amy Shook on bass and Frank Russo on drums.
