Paul Shinn Jazz Trio

Close out the year on December 28 with the upbeat Paul Shinn Jazz Trio: Piano, Bass and Drums. Pure Jazz Real Jazz with Paul Shinn's unique stamp of compositions and arrangements. The Trio is well on its way toward carving out its own unique sound while seeking to maintain a healthy respect for the lineage of jazz piano trios.

Paul Shinn was born in Mainz, Germany and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He began studying classical piano at age 7 and began playing jazz in high school. After attending school at University of Missouri Kansas City and University of North Texas while studying under jazz musicians Bobby Watson, Bram Wijnands, and Steffan Karlsson, Paul moved to Boulder, CO to pursue further studies at the University of Colorado under the guidance of Jeff Jenkins. During his time in Kansas City, Paul played with the El Mambo Latin jazz group, with several big bands and perhaps most notably with his own trio (with drummer Ryan Lee and bassist Dominique Sanders). Featuring solely Paul's original compositions and arrangements, this trio released Reason Pure in August of 2013. Deemed an "essential souvenir of his time in Kansas City" (PlasticSax.com) and "having a unique Shinn Trio stamp" (JAM Magazine), this album chronicles a young trio well on its way. Along with playing in the trio setting, Paul is also an accomplished solo pianist, having been chosen as a semifinalist to attend the 2010 Bösendorfer Solo Jazz Piano Competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
