Founded in 2000, Reverend Glasseye became mainstays of Boston's emerging Cabaret Punk scene, wooing an adoring fan base with highly arranged music that bordered on the landscapes of the morose and the triumphant. Tonight they return to The Lizard Lounge where it all began back in 2001 along with the folk influences swing rock of As The Sparrow
Adam Glasseye & Insect Fable is a new Boston band featuring members of Reverend Glasseye, HUMANWINE, Jaggery, Bury me Standing and Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band. The Insect Fable makes story songs that drape over orchestral and stark arrangements that ebb and flow between dark and triumphant. Birthed as a fevered dream by Adam Glasseye, (aka Reverend Glasseye) in a particularly inauspicious Texas summer, in the season of hard luck, '07. Conceived as a way to write songs that wouldn't fit into Reverend Glasseye's catalogue, The Insect Fable became a more personal and honest outlet into Adam Glasseye's brain, as the songs wrenched themselves around a sound that was stark, brutal and, at times, beautiful. While the project washed into a whisper in austin Texas, leading to a renewal of Reverend Glasseye, it has always been a focus and a desire of the songwriter. Returned to Boston, Adam Glasseye has risen the concept once more.
The band is excited to debut at the Lizard Lounge, the same club where Reverend Glasseye got it's start in 2001.
As the Sparrow is a folk influenced rock-swing band based around the songwriting of Mark Damon and Crystal Araiza. The band draws from the energy of big band swing music as well as the intimacy and poetry of the folk genre. As the Sparrow recently released the "In a Box EP" which was recorded at Kennedy Studios in Burlington, MA.
