A Slice of Americana
San Francisco based David Herrera Performance Co. tours an evening of high energy, culturally textured dance works. The Company brings repertoire favorites and premiers to the Windy City. Line-up includes excerpts from "Origins of Flight: An Immigration Story" (2009) based on the murky and often dangerous perils Latin American women face during immigration from their homelands to the United States and "A Slice of Americana", commentary on current social and political American climates using iconic American photographs such as " Lunch Atop a Skyscraper", "V-J Time Square Kiss", "Little Rock Nine", and "Marilyn Monroe On Location" to draw parallels and juxtapositions in our collective pasts and present.
