Exploring rural American hip-hop, Where You From documents three young white men as they seek new lives through their music despite their struggles with drug addiction, broken families, and isolation. White rappers not named Eminem are usually treated as the punchline to a joke, but Sabrina Lee's debut film reminds us that great music comes from pain, and there's pain everywhere, from the urban ghetto to the empty vistas of Montana.
