Ka Wai I Hooulu Ai - Pohaha I Ka Lani Benefit Concert
Benefit concert for Pohaha I Ka Lani, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit who provides programs for the continuation and advancement of Hawaiian cultural knowledge, wisdom, and practices through the generations. Pohaha I Ka Lani is currently restoring loi (wet land taro patches) in Napoopoo, Waipio Valley. The kuauna (walls surrounding the taro patches) dates back to 800 - 1200 AD. Our ancestors have built the foundation and now in this generation, we are doing our best to restore the loi to be able to feed many.
Coming forth to perform for this concert will be Mishka, Buckman Coe, Hualalai Keohuloa, and Caleb Hart.
Ka Wai I Hooulu Ai...speaks of the water causing growth. When the waters of the heavens flow, it penetrates the earth bringing forth growth. Empowering all of our surroundings as when there is water, there is life. As this concert is a fundraiser to help us continue restoring the ancient loi through the on-going educational programs Pohaha I Ka Lani offers, we will put forward this intention. As each loi is restored, waters of Hiilawe Waterfall will flow and the wai will bring forth growth to all! E Ola!!!
Concert will be held at the Honokaa Peoples Theatre on Friday January 20th. Doors open at 6pm, show starts at 6:30pm. $20 pre-sale tickets via Brown Paper Tickets. $25 tickets at the door.
T-shirt, sweater, and hat sales will be available at the theatre. Donations to Pohaha I Ka Lani will be welcomed as well, which are charitable tax donations.
