Listen to the sounds of each band and also the combined sounds of the QUEEN CITY JAZZ BAND and the GOLDEN EAGLE CONCERT BAND in joint concert. On the program are some all-time favorites played by GECB as in Glenn Millers In The Mood, American Patrol, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and a medley of songs from the movie Grease. Joint music productions with both bands will see all-time favorites like the Rampart Street Parade, Oxford Stomp, Buddys Habits and MORE, MORE, MORE.
SPECIAL PREMIER EVENT: A brand new arrangement specifically composed and arranged for QCJB and concert band. The Platte River Ramble, was composed and arranged by Eugene LeBeaux Ruef, a long time composer/arranger of music of Dixieland.
QCJB and GECB combine to play this new piece for the very first time in public.
For over 58 years the QUEEN CITY JAZZ BAND (QCJB) has been delighting audiences with the happy sounds of the 20s, 30s and 40sGospel, Early Jazz, Ragtime, Swing, Blues and Spirituals. They have performed at every major Dixieland/Swing/ Jazz festival in North America, recreating the music of Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Scott Joplin and many, many others. Their great singer, Wende Harston, brings to life the great hit songs of Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, Ida Cox, Ethel Waters, Alberta Hunter, Helen Humes and many other early blues singers.
The GOLDEN EAGLE CONCERT BAND (GECB), is a youngster, in comparison, playing to audiences for only the past 39 years and is located in Edgewater, CO. We are a 50 piece + all-volunteer adult community band, consisting of men and women of all ages and backgrounds.
The versatility of the GECB music collection includes Marches, Pop, Latin, Semi-Classical, Jazz, Rock, Broadway Show Tunes, Concertos, TV themes, Big Bands and more. Collectively, GECB musicians represent 2122 YEARS of musical training and experience and, including our conductors, we have 12 members with college music degrees. No wonder were a BIG band with a BIG sound.
In 2007 the Band changed its name from the Golden Eagle Brass Band to the Golden Eagle Concert Band, which more accurately represents what the band is - a traditional and/or wind ensemble. The band plays over 20 performances every year.
