"When Voices Meet" Benefit Screening at Or Shalom
"When Voices Meet" is an inspiring documentary about a choir of 500 South African children of all races who were brought together to sing and perform immediately following the release of Nelson Mandela and the end of Apartheid. At a time when it was still very dangerous for Whites, Blacks and mixed-race people to share a common space together, these brave children, their parents, teachers and KwaZulu-Natal musicians broke though Apartheid's barriers. Threatened with bombs and thwarted at every turn, they prevailed and railroaded across their "new" country aboard the Peace Train.
Proceeds from this showing will go to the Or Shalom Community Retreat scholarship fund, providing financial support for all members who want to attend the annual retreat at Walker Creek Ranch in West Marin.
