Event
Gallery Affair
Rita Schuenemann, inventor of the Star Putter, will produce a new event, Gallery Affair on October 8, 2016. The all-day event celebrates women professionals of San Antonio, promotes healthy lifestyles, and benefits a local charity, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's South Central Texas Chapter. Gallery Affair will also host a vendor's showcase for small businesses and services owned and operated by women of San Antonio. Schuenemann's idea for an event that would highlight women and wellness was inspired by a radio program featuring a women's film festival. Schuenemann said, "San Antonio should be celebrating it's women. There are so many strong women in our city from Sheryl Sculley, our City Manager, to Becky Hammon with the Spurs. With San Antonio's reputation for poor health, an event that also supported healthy living was an obvious choice."
The day will begin with a 5K Walk to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's South Central Texas Chapter at 8:30am, followed by a women's conference, luncheon and style show at 10:00am. The conference will feature speakers Rose Mary Lopez of the Oblate School of Theology, Beverley McClure, formerly with Changing Perspectives, LLC, and Shannon Nisbet of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The conference will be followed by the opportunity to take to the golf course at 3:00pm, and live music, vendors, and free wellness activities will be available throughout the day.
While healthy living workshops are open and free to the public, Gallery Affair expects to have more than 150 paying participants for this high profile leadership conference, style show luncheon. It will be held in the beautiful and historic, Borglum Studio at Brackenridge Golf Course, part of the Alamo City Golf Trail.
