Flamenco guitar concert with Ian Scionti and Terry Longshore
Ian Scionti, an Ashland-born musician, will be returning to give a flamenco guitar concert at Paschal Winery in Talent, OR, accompanied by Terry Longshore, Director of Percussion Studies at Southern Oregon University. They will be performing material from Scionti's debut album Campo Abierto, released in summer 2015 by the Spanish jazz label Blue Asteroid Records. Scionti's music mixes elements of jazz with traditional flamenco styles, constantly exploring the aesthetic union between the two and blending innovative arrangements with improvisation.
Tickets are $15 each. Space is limited, so purchasing tickets ahead of time is highly recommended.
After studying jazz guitar in San Francisco and New York, Scionti moved to Seville, Spain where he has lived for over a decade, performing both locally and across Europe with different projects ranging from flamenco-jazz to fado, manouche and choro. Longshore, a percussionist specializing in contemporary music and flamenco, is an active performer, composer, and educator. He has studied and performed on five continents, including performances this year in Australia and Montreal.
The Jefferson Classical Guitar Society (jeffersonguitars.org) and the Sisikiyou Music Project (siskiyoumusicproject.com) are co-sponsoring the concert.
