Classical Hindustani Violin and Tabla meet in Atlanta for a Jugalbhandi of the highest order. It is a rare privilege to hear artists of this calibre as they musically explore the various intricacies of Classical Indian Music. Deftly blending improvisation with traditional and original fixed compositions, the simpatico that Indradeep Ji and Gouri Ji share is truly magical and can only be appreciated live and in person. !Indradeep Ghosh/Violin:
One of the top ranking Violinist of India & a torch bearer of Seni Maihar Gharana, Indradeep was initiated in the art of playing Violin at the tender age of six under the able guidance of Sri Anamitra Mustafi. From the year 1991, he is under the tutelage of Prof. Smt. Sisirkana Dhar Chowdhury. Apart from Indian Classical Music Indradeep has a fondness for Western Classical Music and has received his western lessons from the late Sri Samir Sil. Indradeep is a regular performer for All India Radio Kolkata. He is also associated with several top grade fusion music bands like "Rhythmscape" of percussionist Bikram Ghosh and "Karma" of Subhen Chatterjee. He has composed theme music for the Kolkata Children's Book Fair 2008. Indradeep is also an empanelled artiste of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC). He has received Sangeet Bivakar Diploma from Bangia Sangeet Parishad, Kolkata, affiliated to Rabindra Bharati University and Sangeet Visharad Diploma from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh.
Gourisankar Karmakar/Tabla:
Gourisankar, a leading tabla maestro of the present generation, studied tabla under the able guidance of his father, Pandit Shib Sankar Karmakar. Since 1979, he has been under the tutelage of the tabla Maestro Pandit Sankha Chatteriee. Gourisankar is an "A" grade Artist of All India Radio and Television. His talent and creativity are manifest in classical performances, experimental East-West World Music collaboration, and North- South musical interactions. He has performed with most of India's eminent artists, as well as many famous artists from around the world.
