CUADRO SKILLS: co-taugh by Gema Moneo & El Perla 7:45pm-9:15pm Open to dancers, singers and guitarists. A unique opportunity to see how all the flamenco roles work together in a safe, intimate setting. Singers, dancers and guitarists will learn together the structure, palmas and communication skills that make up the Flamenco "cuadro". Students will perform informally with teachers after last day of class on stage in the La Solea Studios Lounge.

GEMA MONEO BIOGRAPHY Gema Moneo, niece of the famed singer El Torta, is from the legendary Moneo clan of Gypsy flamenco singers and guitarists in Jerez de la Frontera. At the age of 18 she joined Farruquito's company and appeared with him at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla 2012 in "Sonajeras." she also performs regularly with guitarist Diego del Morao among others. Her style is feminine and emphasizes the arms and upper body. She has a keen ear and her dancing expresses all the emotion of the cante jondo. "Emerging as one of the great dancers of her generation, she has carriage, intuition, rhythm, beauty and charisma. She belongs on stage." --El Diario de Sevilla
El Perla was born and bred in Seville. His guitar-playing encompasses both traditional and modern styles. By the time he was 15, he was already accompanying the likes pf Antonio Nuñez "El Chocolate," Fernanda and Bernarda de Utrera and Fernanda Romero. He appreared on the TV with "Triana Pura" and with La Paquera de Jerez. He has toured internationally with Farruquito, Concha Vargas, Torombo, Juan del Gastor, Carmelilla Montoya, Angelita Vargas, Juana la del Pipa, Farruca, and Jose Valencia. He has played several times at the prestigious Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, including appearances with Manuel Molina and Fernando de la Morena. For the past several years he has been serving as musical director for important flamenco night clubs in Barcelona such as El Cordobes. He also composes music for major flamenco productions and writes lyrics for artists such as Montse Cortes.
