LOCATION Private home in Oakland, 49 Yosemite JOSE GALVEZ BIOGRAPHY José Gálvez is a nephew of guitarist Parrilla de Jerez and heir to the pure Gypsy flamenco traditions of the BarrioSantiago. José has collaborated with Diego del Morao, Gerardo Nuñez, Carmen Cortés, Manolete, Joaquin Cortes, Antonio Canales, Manolo Sanlúcar, Alejandro Granados, and Domingo Ortega to name a few. Known for his versatility he is equally comfortable playing guitar for singers and dancers in a Jerez cuadro or singing a traditional siguiriyas or any other form of cante either solo or for the baile. And if that is not enough, he is also a recognized singer-songwriter with a popular repertory. In 1997 he was featured on the compilation "Jerez Joven por Bulerias" (out of print) produced by the legendary guitarist Moraito, where he sang his signature "El amor tiene colores." In 1999 he recorded his first solo album "Bohemio de Amor" and has gone on to release several others, including "Nowheristan". Jose also produces a popular TV show about the flamenco community in Jerez de la Frontera entitled "DUENDE" which airs on OndaJerez TV.
