Armenian Genocide Centennial Concert - Fresno
Armenian Genocide Centennial Concert presented by the Ani Guild of the California Armenian Home. The concert will feature the award-winning Chookasian Armenian Concert Ensemble performing traditional Eastern and Western music and song, honoring our lost ancestors. Also to appear for the first time in Fresno will be the beautifully costumed Hamazkayin Valley Chapter Niari Dance Group from Los Angeles.
The California Armenian Home was established in 1952. The Founding Fathers had a vision to create the Home for those who no longer could care for themselves. In 1952, the first small building caring for about 30 residents was built. The property, the building and the funds to furnish the building were all donated by the Armenian Community. Throughout the years the California Armenian Home, Not for Profit Corporation, continued to grow and develop thanks to financial and moral support of our generous community.
The purpose of raising funds for this event is two fold: one, to remind the community of the importance of providing a safe and loving environment for our older citizens who require assistance in their daily routine; and two, to maintain the Home in which these citizens live to be the best nursing and assisted living facility in Fresno.
For the past seven years, Ani Guild has spearheaded several major remodeling projects. With much success, due to generous donors, we have helped fund this remodeling at the Home, benefiting the residents there. We continue to work to fulfill the mission of the Guild to support the California Armenian Home and its residents through volunteer services and fundraising projects for almost 50 years.
