Cricket & Snail Benefit Concert for the HDSA NW Chaper
Indulge yourself and bring a friend to this fun benefit! The featured act is 'Cricket & Snail' a lively acoustic duo who will treat us with melodies that evoke French cafés, Celtic dances, Jewish weddings, and sitting out on the porch in the summer. Combining sweetness, vivacity, humor and refined musicianship, their eclectic mix of music will delight one and all!
The evening will also include snacks and an art show/auction. To engage your competitive side, we'll cap off the evening with a "dessert-dash" featuring some unbelievable desserts. (We're sorry, but we won't be able to offer beer/wine service this year.)
All proceeds from the evening will support the HDSA NW Chapter in its mission to improving the lives of those in your neighborhood who have Huntington's disease, as well as promoting and supporting research towards a cure.
Included in the stream of pictures is a shot of Art Kreucher, who was the grandpa of Jim Carlson (accordionist, aka. "Snail") and his brother John, the event coordinator. By the time we were old enough to know our grandpa, his speech was strained, he needed help standing, and he had uncontrollable wiggles (chorea) from HD. We never got a chance to really know Art, although the hereditary curse that brought him down hasn't exactly disappeared. So we are doing this concert in Art's memory, in hopes that we can make a difference in helping to finally stop Huntington's disease.
