Shawano Folk Music Festival
The 36th annual Shawano Folk Music Festival will be held in beautiful, relaxing Mielke Park on the outskirts of Shawano, Wisconsin. This year's featured performers include (on Friday night) Peter Roller & Robin Pluer, The Goodtime Specials, Macyn Taylor, and Brother Sun, (on Saturday night) Joe Crookston, Tracy Grammer, The Chris Aaron Band with Jim Schwall, and Navah Mirage Middle Eastern Dancers, plus (daytime acts) Tomcat Joe, Ken Lonnquist, Anna Lee Scully, Jim Anger, 50% Folk and more... And be sure to visit the buckskinners' rendezvous encampment - a pre-1840 encampment, full of trappers and explorers in period clothing, spinning yarns, telling tales and making music.
Crafters demonstrating their talents and food vendors with delectable dishes are available during the day to help round out the event. Also plenty of children's activities, jam sessions, and dancing. New this year is a silent auction. You can also get in on the annual quilt raffle. Musicians, bring your instruments and showcase your talents at the open mic. Children 12 and under get in free for daytime events. Advance tickets are recommended for evening concerts but not necessary for daytime admission.
The event begins with a pre-concert discussion from 6:00 - 6:45 p.m. It's a close up and personal "meet the artists" conversation, Stories from the Road. Road trips and stories go together. Let's talk about it. Then the Friday evening concert begins at 7:00 p.m. There are daytime workshops on Saturday and Sunday at several outdoor stages and a second concert at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.
Come sing, dance and play with us!
