DANIEL AND THE LION from 4-6PM.
Daniel and the Lion is an independent folk-pop duo consisting of Jimmie Linville and Daniel Pingrey. Friends since high school and hailing from the secluded town of Baraboo, WI, they formed in 2009 and have released two albums, "Sweet Teeth" and "Death Head." Their sound is a dichotomy of forces: Pingrey's heady musicality and lush arrangements starkly compliment Linville's heartfelt lyrics and canyon voice. They play 200 shows each year, and have shared the stage with Counting Crows, The Bodeans, Lucy Rose, Marc Broussard, Meiko, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Phox. Adam Duritz, of Counting Crows, tweeted of their most recent album, Death Head, "it's like suddenly remembering all these good things I never want to forget."
GRUPO BALANCA featuring the Handphibians from 7-9PM.
Grupo Balança is a Madison based ensemble that play popular music and Samba from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Grupo plays many styles, including Pagode, Bossa Nova, Samba de Roda and Forro. Most of the music that Gupo plays originates from the Samba school traditions of Rio. The beautiful songs sing about love and happiness and the eternal pursuit of a better life. Whether you are a dancer or not, you will no doubt want to experience the wonderful groove.
