It's my 40th birthday on March 12th. For this occasion, I want to celebrate it differently by sponsoring two respective Crowdrise fundraisers for two illustrious non-profit organizations (i.e. Savage Jazz Dance Company and the Center for Media Justice), and hold an event that will highlight them. Come and learn about them while you enjoy the world premiere of the Oakland Salsa y Timba All Stars (OS y TAS), and the music in between sets from DJ son of Sōn (Refuge Roots of Music) and DJ Walt Digz (Añejo Productions). Listen to the Center for Media Justice story, watch the Savage Jazz Dance Company perform a preview of their upcoming performance in late May (tickets on sale after 3/16), and, of course, dance your heart out on the open dance floor. The cover is $10, and $5 for students/youths under 18 years old. 20% of the gross advance and door sales will be donated to the organizations (10% to the Savage Jazz Dance Company and 10% to the Center for Media Justice). It is an all ages kid friendly event. Buy your ticket in advance here. Some free food will be provided.
Take BART to the 12th Street BART station, which is 2 blocks away. There is parking in the parking lot on 13th and Webster and on the street in the area.
