Metropolitan Greek Chorale Christmas Concert
Metropolitan Greek Chorale Magi & Shepherds Christmas Concert
Join the Metropolitan Greek Chorale and Chamber Ensemble for their annual Christmas Concert. Themed "Magi & Shepherds" the concert celebrates the original first responders, who followed that famous star in the Eastern sky.
Under the direction of music director Marina Alexander with accompaniment by the Greek Chorale String Ensemble and pianist Yannis Xylas, the chorale performs the rarely heard Vivaldi Gloria (R.V. 588), Byzantine compositions of Tavener, Renaissance works, contemporary Christmas carols and our seasonal sing-along of traditional carols and Greek Kalanta.
Established in 1965 in New York City, The Metropolitan Greek Chorale is a volunteer SATB chorale with membership that spanning the tri-state area. This year the chorale celebrates its forty-eighth season, enriching, and educating the city's Upper West Side and Hellenic community through concert performances of music from diverse historical periods, styles, cultures, and languages.
