One Week Only! Digitally Restored! The Beatles return to the big screen to fight the Blue Meanies in this new digital restoration of the 1968 animated musical classic, featuring numerous classic songs, including Yellow Submarine, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Eleanor Rigby, All You Need is Love, Lucy in The Sky with Diamonds, With a Little Help From Your Friends, When I'm Sixty-Four, and many more!
Once upon a time or maybe twice, there was an unearthly paradise called Pepperland, a place where happiness and music reigned supreme. But all that was threatened when the terrible Blue Meanies declared war and sent in their army led by a menacing Flying Glove to destroy all that was good. Enter John, Paul, George and Ringo to save the day! Armed with little more than their humor, songs, and of course, their yellow submarine, The Beatles tackle the rough seas ahead in an effort to bring down the evil forces of bluedom. The animation of Yellow Submarine has sometimes falsely been attributed to the famous psychedelic pop art artist Peter Max; but the film's art director was Heinz Edelmann. Edelmann, along with his contemporary Milton Glaser, pioneered the psychedelic style for which Max would later become famous. The Beatles were not initially excited about making the film, but were delighted with the results, and agreed to film live action scenes for the film's finale. The animated classic fantasy film has been digitally restored frame by frame, all by hand. (UK, 1968, 89 min., color, Blu-ray)
