Prelude to a Kiss
Norman, Oklahoma's Stage Door Theatrical Company is pleased to present the romantic dramedy, "Prelude to a Kiss". The play will run February 8 - 23, 2002 in Norman.
Craig Lucas' "Prelude to a Kiss" is the winner of the 1990 Obie Award for Best New American Play. An adult fairy tale and parable, the plot revolves around the magical and seemingly inexplicable exchange of bodies between an old man and a young bride who had never met before, and the dawning horrified realization by the young groom that his bride is no longer the same person.
It is not only his new wife's baffling apparent lapses of memory and changes of habit that alert Peter to the switch. The once fearful, pessimistic and insomniac Rita is suddenly sleeping quite easily and advising Peter to "breathe in life." By the conclusion of the play, some life lessons are learned, giving the story its allegorical flavor. As in any classic fairy tale, the characters overcome obstacles to seal their union and live happily ever after!
