Internationally acclaimed dancer and teacher Steve Weintraub - often called the "Pied Piper of Yiddish dance" - will lead students in exploring and demystifying the iconic Jewish square dance, the sher. They will learn the elements that constitute the form and then create a special Yidstock sher; participants will also consider other set dances (dances done in formation and favoring floor patterns over footwork) such as the couples bulgar, runde, and patsh tants. With live accompaniment by accordionist Lauren Brody.
Steve will be in residence throughout the festival to teach and encourage dancing at every opportunity.
